Challenges are a constant with an autistic child and come in different forms and intensity. What is important for parents and caregivers is for them to be prepared to deal with the challenges appropriately, effectively, and consistently. Major challenges that are characteristics of autism are in language and communication, socialization, and behavior management. All these need professional intervention and training. It is heartbreaking to learn at the onset that there is no cure, however, it’s treatable and can teach the child how to gain life skills and function independently.
